Luka ulić, born in Maribor, Slovenia in 1987, was admitted to the class of Valter Despalj at the Zagreb Academy of Music at the age of 15. He is a laureate of the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians held in Kurashiki, Japan in 2003. He has won top prizes at international competitions, including several first prizes at the International Cellist Competition in Gorizia, Italy (1999, 2003 and 2005) and the National Music Competition in Ljubljana (TEMSIG) in 2000 and 2003.
Luka has given solo appearances in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Maribor, Venice, Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Brussels and Vienna, and performed as a soloist with the Russian Symphony Orchestra, the Slovene Philharmonic, the Maribor Philharmonic, the Zagreb Soloists, the Varadin Chamber Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Zagreb Academy of Music. He has also appeared twice in concerts of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation in Moscow, with young talents and laureates from all over the world taking part.
The year 2005 marked his highly successful debut at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
