Jonian-Ilia Kadesha was born in Athens in August 1992, and began studying the violin when he was four. He performed for the first time in public at the age of five.
In May 2000 he received two special prizes in the international competition Musicalia 2000 in Athens. In October 2001 he joined the advanced class at Linda Leusis conservatory, studying violin with Arben Kadesha and theory with Meri Kalatzopoulou. He has now completed his studies there and is a candidate for the Diploma. Since November 2004, Jonian-Ilia Kadesha has been studying with Salvatore Accardo at the Stauffer Academy of Cremona in Italy. He has also attended master classes by Bernhard Hartog, Grigori Zhislin and Salvatore Accardo.
In 2003 Jonian-Ilia Kadesha won first prize in the Pan-Hellenic and Cyprus Contest Talent - Award Filona in Athens, second prize in the international violin competition The New Virtuoso at the Paganini Festival in Wroclaw, Poland, and first prize in the international competition The Songs of our Land in Tirana, Albania. In August 2005 he won the Premio Banca Monte dei Paschi prize as the best of the master class at the Music Academy Chigiana of Siena.
In June 2003 he appeared as a soloist at the Music Hall of Athens. In 2004 he recorded H. Wieniawskis Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra with the ERT National Symphony Orchestra under Andreas Pilarinos, and appeared as a soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra of Toscana in Siena, Italy. In 2005 he performed as a soloist with the ERT National Symphony orchestra at the Opera House in Athens, with the String Orchestra of Toscana in Siena, with the Youth Orchestra of C. Monteverdi under Mario Vitale in Cemona, and with the ERT National Symphony Orchestra at the Concert Hall of Athens, a concert which was broadcast live on Greek television, channel E.T.1.
Jonian-Ilia Kadesha plays on a Jacques Boquay violin built in 1786.
