Tine Thing Helseth was born in Oslo, Norway on 18 July 1987. She began playing the trumpet at the age of seven. From 1994 to 2001 she studied with Heidi Johanessen of the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, and in 2002 continued her studies with Arnulf Naur Nilsen of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Ole Edvard Antonsen. She is currently studying at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.
Tine has performed in recitals all over Norway and appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Beethoven Academie of Belgium, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Barratt Due Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Symphony Orchestra, Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces, His Majesty the Kings Guard and Oslo Camerata, as well as numerous brass and wind ensembles, working under conductors such as Terje Boye Hansen,Christoph Poppen, David King, Stephan Barratt Due, Didier Boture, Rolf Gupta, Kjell Seim and Sebastian Lang-Lessing. She has also appeared on radio and television (Norwegian Broadcasting, NRK).
She has received several scholarships and been a prize-winner in numerous competitions. She won the Oslo and Akershus Soloist Championship in 2001 and 2002 and the National Soloist Championship of Norway, class 1, in 2002. In 2003 she won the Oslo and Akershus Soloist Championship and took the third prize in the National Soloist Championship, open class (no age limit). In 2004 she won both the Oslo and Akershus Soloist Championship and the National Soloist Championship, open class. In 2005 she took the second prize in the Northern Soloist Championship and the First International Trumpet Competition Theo Charlier (age limit: 30) and won the Oslo Camerata soloist competition, the Sparre Olsen Competition, and the Norwegian Music Competition for Youth in three categories, as well as being named " The Musician of the Year 2005" in Norway.
She is already booked to perform in concerts and recitals in Salzburg, Kiev, London, Helsinki, Brussels and many festivals in Norway in the future.
