Marija Godjevac was born in abac (Serbia) in 1989. She started studying the piano at the age of six. After several years of initial music studies she began performing, and has won awards in numerous national and international piano competitions.
In 1997 she was awarded the special first prize in the "Debutante" category for performers aged under 16. In 1998 she became a laureate of the Serbian Music Schools Talented Students' Contest. A year later she won a prize at the prestigious international competition Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic. In 2001 she became a laureate of the Young Pianists Competition organised by EPTA in Belgrade. She also won first prizes at the competitions in Koshice (Slovakia), "Petar Kondović" in Belgrade and "Isidor Bajić" in Novi Sad. In 2004 she won ten special prizes in all the categories in which she competed in regional and national competitions. She was also very successful at the "Guliano Pecar" (Italy) international competition in 2005, where she reached the finale and finished fourth among performers up to 32 years of age.
Particularly outstanding were the performances Marija Godjevac gave at Kolarac Hall and at "Stari Dvor" Palace, as well as her recital at the Young BEMUS Festival 2005, her concert at the National Museum in Belgrade, at Studio "M" in Novi Sad, at the Subotica Town Hall, at the Ni Philharmonic Hall, and in Kotor.
She has made numerous recordings for national radio and television. Marija Godjevac is now in her second year at the Belgrade Music Academy, studying with Professor Aleksandar Serdar.
